SOFT galleri har gleden av å presentere en ung og lovende kunstner. Aurora Passero gjorde seg bemerket under årets masterutstilling i kunstfag på Kunsthøyskolen i Oslo der hun mottok to stipender for arbeidet sitt.
Aurora Passero skaper installasjoner som befinner seg i sjiktet mellom skulptur og maleri. Hun jobber med utgangspunkt i forskjellige materialer som nylon, lær, plast og gummi, og bearbeider disse med tekstile teknikker som å veve, hekle, knyte og farge. Dette danner elementer som hun komponerer sammen til ulike abstrakte, organiske former og strukturer.
Passero henter fritt inspirasjon fra mange ulike kulturelle uttrykk som populær- og undergrunnskultur, folklore, håndverkstradisjon, kunsthistorie og mote for å nevne noen. Dette gjenspeiles i arbeidene hennes der kontrastfylte teksturer åpner for nye visuelle og taktile erfaringer.
Til utstillingen WARRIOR GLOSS viser hun en gruppe nye skulpturer laget spesielt for gallerirommet på SOFT. Verkene går i dialog med hverandre og rommet, og består i hovedsak av vevd og farget nylon.
Aurora Passero er født i 1984 og bor og arbeider i Oslo.
Hun har tidligere studert ved fagområdet for tekstil (KHiO) og Glasgow School of Art, Dep.of Sculpture and Environmental Art. Passero er også aktuell med separatutstilling på Akershus Kunstsenter I 2012.

At SOFT galleri the fall program starts off with Aurora Passero’s first solo exhibition in Norway. In the span between sculpture and painting Passero works with site-specific installations. She gives tradition-oriented textile techniques like crochet, weaving and macrame an experimental form using non-traditional materials such as nylon, acrylic, wax, paint, plastic and plaster. These cross-over studies in technique and materiality produces abstract shapes and organic structures that emphasize the work`s inherent qualities such as artistic expression, form and vocabulary. Unusual juxtapositions of example, textile and plastics, wax and sand, the liquid and cemented, or the synthetic and natural creates contrasting textures that opens up new visual and tactile experiences. The material`s inherent characteristics and physical abilities are thus central to the understanding of Passeros work.
Aurora Passero is born in 1984 and lives and works in Oslo. She has studied at Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KhiO), textile department, with master degree in 2011. She has also studied at the Glasgow School of Art, Dep. of Sculpture and Environmental Art. Passero is going to have a solo exhibition at Akershus Kunstsenter in 2012.
